Abstract

The type I heavy-tailed-G (TIHT-G) power series (PS) class of distributions (CoDs) and some of its sub-classes, are the new generalized distributions examined in this work. We develop the statistical properties of the novel CoDs. Actuarial measures were developed and numerically analyzed. The parameters were estimated using the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) procedure and Monte Carlo simulations were studied and presented. The applications of the type I heavy-tailed Weibull Poisson model, a member of the  type I heavy-tailed Weibull power series (TIHT-WPS) CoDs, were employed to analyze heavy-tailed data sets, including a case involving censored data. The potential of the proposed paradigm was assessed by comparing it with nested models and non-nested models. Findings positioned the proposed distribution as exhibiting significantly enhanced modeling capability vis-à-vis conventional alternatives.
